Barbara Ann Lynchard, the daughter of Edward William Haab Jr, and Ida Marie Haab was born on May 29th, 1943 in New Orleans Louisiana. She graduated from John McDonough Senior High School in 1961, and was married that same year to the love of her life, Lawrence Lynchard on December 2nd, 1961. They were to be married 59 years this upcoming December.
My mother focused on the positive aspects of life. We all have our problems and difficulties, but she chose to highlight the good things over the problems. She loved her church, amateur photography, her friends and family, which included her animals. You can see this on her yearly calander where she had penciled in the birthdates, anniversaries, and doctor's appointments for everyone, whether you have 2 legs or 4 legs. I felt that she was always more worried about her childrens happiness than she was her own. I won't say she enjoyed cooking, but she was a great cook, and would always copy me a recipe if asked. It was a frequent occurrance to have a cookout at the house with lots of people over, food, laughter, and good times.
Looking through her closets and boxes, you can see that the things of value to her, were not necessarily items with a monitary value. She had real jewelry stored along side mardi gras necklesses, a $2 bill, love poems to or about my dad, and trinkets given to her by her children.
As determined as she was loving, Barbara would write and call everyone she could find to correct something that she felt was wrong and needed to be righted. She has tireless fought to help my sister get and keep her disability payments, she has started petitions, and just in looking though her paperwork I have found her name on a more than a few legal settlements. A hard worker, in addition to "Mom" she has been an AT&T Operator, a Real Estate Agent, a Slot Attendant for Harrah's Casino, and has held numerous administrative jobs over her lifetime.
In the end she had an increasing amount of medical problems. Lower back pain from an accident long ago was an constant battle for her, she had had open heart surgery (a double bypass), Knee replacement, and more recently she had brain surgery where surgeons had removed a tumor (and had found 2 more). It caused seizures, memory problems, and was robbing her of the ability to function on her own.
She departed this world on late Friday night, August 31st 2020, at her home in Pearl River Louisiana. She was 77 years old, and was preceded in death by her parents Edward and Ida Haab, and her daughter Debra. She was joined in death by husband Lawrence.
Barbara is survived by her son Lawrence Edward Lynchard (his wife Kathleen) of Ocean Springs, MS, and her brother Edward William Haab III (his wife Carol), numerous other relatives and many friends.
