Barbara and Carl were married over 50 years. The day after her death was the 52nd anniversary of their meeting at Wesley Foundation at Northeast Louisiana University. Barbara had a career with St. Tammany Council on Aging, leading the Meals on Wheels program, and in Pennsylvania for Meals on Wheels. She was dedicated to providing nutrition and care to senior citizens. Barbara and Carl lived in Slidell, New Orleans, Beaufort, North Carolina, Slidell again, Downingtown, Pennsylvania, and finally in Slidell from 2007 until her death. They enjoyed traveling together and visited all 50 US states, Canada, Mexico, the Bahamas and several countries in the European Union. She and Carl frequently attended The Abita Opry and went to numerous concerts and plays, both locally and on Broadway. She read through about a half dozen “One Year Bibles” through the years. From notes from her studies, she wrote, “The will of God will never take you where the grace of God will not protect you.” She had a huge, kind heart for service and loved all God’s creations, including nature, people, and animals. Over the years, she was owned by 4 rescue dogs. Barbara’s family and friends describe her as a loving, sweet, and good person who provided warmth, humor, care and, concern to all who knew her.
