Arthur James (AJ) Barnes

July 22, 1962 – March 24, 2022

Arthur James (AJ) Barnes passed away peacefully at the age of 59 on March 24, 2022. He was born in New Orleans and was a resident of Slidell, LA. He is survived by his son, Alexander O’Leary (Sara) and his beloved grandsons Ryland & Decland O’Leary. He is also survived by his brother Alvin Frank Barnes Jr. (Thais); sisters Holly McCain (Clair) and Sheryl Rapp (Robert). He was the godfather of Ryan Rapp and had many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his father Alvin Frank Barnes Sr., mother Lois Miller Barnes and sister Deborah Durham Gibson.

He was raised in Chalmette and graduated in 1980 from Chalmette High School. AJ was a pipefitter by trade and a member of the UA Plumbers and Steamfitters Local Union in New Orleans and the state of Washington. He was also a passionate biker, never far from his motorcycle and always ready for a cruise anywhere. He was a born again Christian, a proud member of the Alky Angels Motorcycle Club and loved ice cream.

He will be sorely missed by his boys, family and all who loved him.
