Anna Jean Cortazzo

Anna Jean Cortazzo, 79, of Poplarville, MS, went to be with Jesus on Friday, October 18, 2024, in Pearl River, LA surrounded by loved ones. 

Anna Jean was a native of New Orleans, born to Leon and Annie Cortazzo on February 1, 1945, in New Orleans, LA. She graduated from Loyola University, where she made the dean's list, with a bachelor’s degree in accounting and had a fulfilling career at Shell Oil Company. Later in life, she made her home in Poplarville, MS, with the late James “Jim” Gaines, where she made many friends. She had called Pearl River, LA home for the last two years. She was surrounded by family, laughter, love, and many animals (her pals). She loved all animals and enjoyed doing anything outdoors.

Anna Jean was preceded in death by her parents, life partner Jim Gaines, and siblings James “Jimmy” Cortazzo, Rose Rita Hamm, Russell Cortazzo, and their spouses.

She is survived by her sister Grace (Dave) Ziegler of Pearl River, LA, and will be greatly missed by her many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

There will be a private family celebration of life at a later date.
