Anita Thomas Belcher

September 4, 1937 — December 3, 2024

Mrs. Anita Thomas Belcher, born on September 4, 1937, passed away peacefully on December 3, 2024, in Covington, Louisiana. She left this earth to be with her beloved husband Keith (d.2017) and her daughter Susan (d.1977). She is remembered for her warmth, kindness, and unwavering dedication to her family and friends.

Anita's family was the center of her world. She is survived by her daughter, Julie (Fred) Green of Madisonville, LA and her son Steven (Lisa) Belcher of Fort Myers, Fl. Also known as "Maney" in Louisiana or “Mawnie” in Florida, she was a grandmother to 4 boys Drew (Amy) Green, Keith (Brittney) Green, Zachary (Miranda) Belcher and Hunter Belcher; and a great grandmother to Lyla & Jackson Green. Each of them held a special place in her heart, and she cherished every moment spent with them.

Anita met and married Robert Keith Belcher on December 31, 1955. They made a life together in Pascagoula, Mississippi where they raised 3 children. While living in Pascagoula, much of her time was spent working in the public school system. She adored and loved helping children. Anita was an active member of First Methodist Church of Pascagoula, a reflection of her strong faith in God. After 58 years, they moved to Covington, Louisiana to be closer to their daughter, Julie. In her remaining years she was a member of St. Timothy on the Northshore in Mandeville, LA where she was actively involved with her Sunday school class and was regularly seen at Wednesday night church dinners.

Anita's life was marked by her deep commitment to those she loved and her ability to bring joy to everyone around her. She was a beacon of strength and grace, always ready to lend a helping hand or a listening ear. Anyone who knew Anita, knew her kindhearted and engaging personality meant that she never met a stranger.

A memorial service will be held to honor Anita's life and legacy on Saturday January 4, 2025, at St. Timothy on the Northshore in Mandeville, LA. Visitation begins at 10am with a memorial service following at 11am. In lieu of flowers, you may donate to the Susan Belcher Memorial Scholarship Fund.
