James Rhodes

James Walter Rhodes passed away peacefully at his home in Abita Springs, LA on Wednesday, November 2, 2016.  He will be greatly missed by a wide circle of friends who gathered at his bedside on Sunday, October 30, to share stories and celebrate his life.  He was a kind and gentle man who made friends with everyone he met. Jim grew up in Pennsylvania and played in his high school band.  He was very interested in Italy and was able to go to Perugia, Italy to study Italian.  He loved to make pasta dishes for his friends.  Jim lived in Florida for several years and worked as a massage therapist. He came to New Orleans for Mardi Gras one year and decided to stay.  He loved Mardi Gras and went to as many parades as he could each year.  He collected unusual beads and kept displays in his home. Through the years he worked for doctors, clinics and companies that did medical transcription.  He was an excellent transcriptionist, editor and auditor.  He taught transcription classes in Clearwater and became a recruiter for Edix Corporation.  At the time of his death he was employed by SoftScript as an auditor. Jim always had pets through the years.  He loved his dog, Annabelle, and his cats, Momma and Marty.  He wanted animals to have good homes and loving care.
